World of Outlaws Tickets on sale for Gerdau Recycling Magic City Showdown at Nodak Speedway

MINOT, N.D. — May 15, 2017 — Tickets are now on sale for the Gerdau Recycling Magic City Showdown, featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Nodak Speedway in Minot, North Dakota, on Sunday, August 20. Tickets can be purchased online at https://slspromotions.ticketforce.com or by calling SLS Promotions at 815-344-2023.

Donny Schatz, who was born and raised in Minot, extended his win streak at Nodak Speedway to five races last year, leading all 35-lap of the race. The win was one of 25 on the season for Schatz, who claimed his third straight and eighth overall World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series championship. Schatz leads the series this season with nine wins through May 14.

Joey Saldana and Daryn Pittman have each won once at Nodak Speedway during their careers. In the 11 main events contested by the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Nodak Speedway, dating back to 2006, seven different drivers have been victorious.

Battling Schatz, Saldana and Pittman in 2017 is a talented group of full-time competitors, including Brad Sweet, who is Pittman’s teammate at Kasey Kahne Racing, David Gravel who is currently second in points, Shane Stewart, who won eight A-Feature events last year, Jason Johnson, the reigning winner of the Knoxville Nationals, who has a pair of victories this season, fan favorite Jason Sides, veteran drivers Paul McMahan and Kraig Kinser, as well as defending Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner Greg Wilson.

Logan Schuchart, who scored his first series win last season and already has two victories this season, leads the brigade of young drivers, along with his Shark Racing teammate Jacob Allen and teenager Clyde Knipp from Missouri. Sheldon Haudenschild from Ohio and Brent Marks from Pennsylvania are battling for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year award.

Track Prep Volunteers Needed

Nodak Speedway is currently looking for track prep volunteers. These duties will be include during the week and race night. Blade operator, Water truck driver and tractor operator are the included positions we are looking for. Please contact a board member if you are interested in helping out at the race track this year.

Nodak Speedway Memberships

Drivers and pitman. NODAK memberships will be available at the NODAK souvenir trailer at the Wild about Wheels show this weekend. You will need a current 2017 membership in order to vote at the general meeting on Sunday. You can also purchase your IMCA license for 2017, as well as pick up a copy of IMCA rules.

The 2017 Wild about Wheels event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, February 11th and 12th, 2017. We have lots of new vendors at the show and are looking forward to the many racecars to be on display.

There is also still time to purchase raffle tickets for the Tire Demon Tire Station. Tickets are $100. The drawing will be held at 3pm on Sunday, and ticket holders or a representative must be present at the time of the drawing.

The general membership meeting is scheduled for 1pm on Sunday. Memberships will be sold at the NODAK souvenir trailer.

Please make sure you check out the RC car races and the Cliffhanger group. We are also looking forward to Dakota Cruisers having cars on display. There will be boxes in order to vote for the Best in Show car.

We are still looking for some workers to help with the front door.
Times available are
Saturday: 2pm to 4pm
Sunday: 12pm to 2pm, and 2pm to 5pm.
If you are interested in filling in on any of these times, please contact a board member.

Wild About Wheels

The Wild about Wheels event is less than 2 weeks away plans are coming along great. Dakota Cruisers will have classic cars on display. Northern Mini Racers will again be having a race event during the two days of the show. Cliffhangers will have vehicles on display.

There are many new vendors that are going to be involved in this years show. As well as a Swap meet of used parts.

If you are interested in volunteering we have several shifts still open for the front door:

NODAK Race Club is looking for volunteers to help at the upcoming Wild about Wheels event.

We are looking for people to help with set up on Friday, February 10th, starting at 12pm (noon), ticket sellers Saturday and Sunday and Swap Meet tables on Saturday.

Saturday shift times for front door are:
9:45 am to 12pm,
12pm to 2pm
2pm to 4pm
4pm to 6pm

The NODAK Racing Club Board of Directors approved having a swap meet at the 2017 Wild about Wheels show February 11th and 12th, 2017.

People are invited to bring racing, classic cars and street rod parts to sell at this show.

There will be no commission paid to the club for any parts that are sold.
