The name Extremarium comes from Latin and means limit or barrier. This barrier translates to the "barrier like" vineyards that Mont Marcal owns. These vineyards are surrounded by mountains, which form a natural barrier. The climate, in particular, is the grapes' greatest enemy. However, Manuel Sancho already saw potential in this area in 1975 when he founded the Mont Marcal winery in
